La Chandeleur

Join the Alliance Francaise de Cairns to celebrate La Chandeleur with crepes and board games.

What is that?

What is that?

Every 2nd of February, France celebrates La Chandeleur (Candlemas), also known as Jour des crêpes (Day of the crêpes) by, you guessed it, eating crêpes.
The holiday originates both from Catholic religion (it’s exactly 40 days after Christmas). Nowadays, it’s mostly just a reason to eat crêpes!

We will celebrate it at the Cairns library between Abbott St and Lake St. It will be Saturday 2nd of February between 3pm and 6 pm. The admission is free and a gold donation will be asked for the crepes. We will also play some board games so bring your favorite one along some extra fun!
